How we verify

Where facts come from

  1. The hospital's or health system's own pages: careers, nursing, residency, benefits.
  2. Current job postings on the hospital's hiring system (pay ranges, sign-on bonuses, new-grad openings).
  3. Answers from the hospital's HR or recruiting team.
  4. Official data: HUD fair market rents, federal and state hospital lists.
  5. Reputable news, for closures and service changes.

Every fact shows its source and the date we saw it. We don't use forum posts or review sites as facts.

What the labels mean

Pay

Job postings often list a range that covers every experience level. We only call a figure "new-grad pay" when the posting is for new graduates or states a new-grad rate.

Current openings

The openings table on each hospital page is refreshed weekly from the hospital's public job listings. We show staff RN and new-grad roles with the title, unit, shift, posted pay, and date. We don't copy job descriptions, and every row links to the posting on the hospital's own site. If we haven't been able to refresh a hospital's openings for two weeks, we hide the table and link to the hospital's careers page instead. Hospitals can ask us to stop listing their openings.

How often we recheck

A hospital page is only published while its facts are less than 120 days old. We recheck postings and re-ask hospitals regularly.

Before a page goes live

We send the hospital the facts we plan to publish and give them at least five business days to correct or decline anything.

Corrections

If something is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it. Hospitals can correct or decline any item.
